Formed In Place Gasket: An exciting alternative to traditional forms of seal technology
Using machinery and materials from technology leaders Sonderhoff GmbH, the FIPFG process uses a 2-part liquid which when mixed and delivered under computer controlled conditions cures to form a Polyurethane Foam Gasket.
The constituent parts and process can be altered to suit the required mechanical and chemical properties of the seal. The seal is delivered in liquid form directly onto the component, either into a specifically designed groove or onto a flat surface on the part. Delivery is by a 3-axis robotically controlled delivery head, enabling complex 3D seal forms.
Benefits of FIPFG
• Flexibility of design
• Bespoke seal properties for application
• High quality seal and performance
• Excellent adhesion to base material
• Competitive alternative to pre-cut seals
Due to the significant benefits this process offers we have recently invested in a second Robotic cell to help support the growing needs of this market area. If you have parts that need to seal (plastic or not) please talk to us and we would be delighted to demonstrate the effectiveness of this process at our plant in the UK.
