Tool Making
At Fernplas we believe that good quality injection moulding starts with product and tool design and experienced tooling engineers contributing at the early stages of new projects.
Central to this concept is our fully equipped Toolroom providing our in-house tool making team with the capability of undertaking all aspects of tool development and tool building.
With fully integrated machinery and software we use 3D CAD models fed directly to CNC machinery for rapid prototyping or Tool Building itself. This provides an accurate and efficient process, ensuring the smooth development of a product concept through to tool building.
Toolroom equipment includes the following:
• VMX 42 - 3 Axis Machines Centre
• VMX 24 - 3 Axis Machining Centre
• XYZ Trak DPM Bed Mill. Half Tonne Capacity
• XYZ 42 x 12 DRO Vertical Mill KRV 2000
• ACT Spark SP1 CNC X/Y (500mm x 500mm)
Tool Refurbishment - Besides assisting in the development of new projects we are also well equipped to undertake refurbishment and adaptation of a range of injection mould tooling. If you are receiving poor quality mouldings, high scrap rates or simply require tool modifications from a local competitive source we may well be able to assist.
If Fernplas designs, builds and moulds your tool, we will maintain, service and repair it FREE OF CHARGE for its designated working life!
